“Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way.” ~ Florence Scovel Shinn

A remarkable thing happened on my wellness journey to losing 85 pounds.  Not only did my body return to its natural self, but my intuition sharpened when my spirit gradually became liberated from the internal and external clutter I had been carrying for decades.

You see for me, losing weight wasn’t simply about esthetics.  It was about a complete wellness detox – mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  I knew it had to encompass the whole package or it couldn’t be sustainable.  So why am I telling you all this?

Because I believe that when you rid yourself of the layers of attachments – be they body fat, emotional habits, addictive behaviors, protective fortresses, or even toxic relationships, we allow our true spirit to be exposed where it can finally see the light that points the way.  That’s where the real joy lives.  And it’s all about the joy.

In Chapter 19 – Be in Spirit, in my book Being Joy™, I wrote about a few techniques to help you connect more clearly to your spirit on an emotional and spiritual level.  They included meditation and being in nature.  In next week’s blog I’ll expand a bit more on connecting to nature.

For today, I want to talk about a few other things you can do for your physical body and living space that can strengthen the clarity in which you hear and then translate the messages from your spirit and from the Great Spirit.

First of all, drink plenty of fresh clean water that has been filtered of contaminants.  Not only does it flush out toxins in your body that interfere with the receptivity of spirit messages, since water is a natural conductor, but your skin (your largest organ) will be better hydrated.  And try placing your hand over your water and say a blessing, infusing the water molecules with loving and positive vibrations before you take a sip.  If you want more information on the healing power of water, check out this resource from Dr. Masaru Emoto.

Try to eat local, non-GMO, organic fruits, and vegetables whenever possible and consider reducing the amount of animal products you consume. It’s not only healthier for your body, mind, and spirit but better for the environment.  A great little book that has some useful information about how food affects the chakra system and life force is called Eating in the Light by Doreen Virtue and Becky Prelitz.  It is very slanted towards vegetarianism so if that isn’t your thing, you can still find some other valuable information that might help your connection with spirit and strengthen your intuition.

Clearing your body is also extremely beneficial for removing stagnant toxins and energies that can disrupt intuitive messages.  As far as body purifying goes, I am a big fan of salt baths.  Also, frequenting natural water sources such as streams, rivers, lakes, and oceans can help clear your body, mind, and spirit.  Even having a shower and visualizing negative emotions or trapped energies swirl down the drain can be effective for release and recharging your sacred body.  I also use therapeutic grade essential oils as part of my daily practice to elevate my joy vibration.

If you want more information on clearing your space, a book I highly recommend is Space Clearing Kit – Working with Nature to Enhance the Energies of Your Home by Christan Hummel.  Or you might enjoy Clearing – A Guide to Liberating Energies Trapped in Building and Lands by Jim PathFinder Ewing. And I love Denise Linn’s book Energy Strands – The Ultimate Guide to Clearing the Cords That Are Constricting Your Life.

Hopefully, I’ve provided you with some food for thought and plenty of gentle nudging to do some further reading and research on your own if you want to have a deeper connection with your spirit.  And in the meantime, keep your frequency high, your mind open and your joy ever expanding!

Love from your Joy Mama,
