What feelings touch your soul the deepest?  Hopefully they’re feelings that bring you pleasure, as that is such an important ingredient for joyful living.

Every week this month, I have shared my thoughts about the joy habit of pleasure, based on Chapter 38 of my book Being Joy™.  I have written about how your five senses affect your emotions and ultimately your entire wellbeing so that you can experience more pleasure in your life. Today let’s talk about your sense of touch, literally and psychically.

But first, to recap the series on pleasure, I began with your sense of smell, where I provided some useful information about how various aromas can benefit not only your emotions, but your physical, mental, and spiritual health as well.

Week two was about your sense of sight and how that when you notice and appreciate all the beauty that surrounds you, you’ll experience more pleasure because you will be living more fully in a state of gratitude and joy.

I share my thoughts about your sense of sound in week three and about how sound, especially in the form of music, can trigger fond memories that help to elevate your pleasure centre as well as induce other therapeutic benefits.

Last week was all about your sense of taste, one of my favourite senses.  If you’re a foodie like me, you’ll want to read that post if you haven’t already, as I share a simple but yummy recipe that always reminds me of spring.

And now we’re onto the last in this month’s series of the five senses that, when in balance, contribute to a more pleasurable and joyful life. Let’s talk about touch.

Touch is one of the most primal of our senses and is how we learn to find our way in the world from the time we are born. But beyond the physical sense of touch is another form of touch in which you “feel” or “know” things emotionally and intuitively.  Let me explain what I mean.

We all have a “sixth” sense.  It’s just that some of us pay more attention to it than others.

So, rather than discounting “feelings” of discomfort in certain environments, premonitions about something that you sense might occur, “chance meetings” or a Deja-vu experience for example, I encourage you to examine and honour your instincts.

Don’t write these occurrences off as just coincidences but instead look for their purpose or meaning. Once you pay more attention to them, you will start to develop your intuitive abilities more fully or some of your “Claires”.

Take for example Clairvoyance or “Clear Seeing”.  You might see images in your head almost like a movie playing in your mind. Or you could see a symbol, a series or numbers or a name. Or you may even see things actually manifest physically. Explore their meaning.

Then there is Clairaudience which means “Clear Hearing”.  This is when you may hear a message either audibly or inside your head, almost like it’s your own voice. You might hear a name or a suggestion or other intuitive messages. Pay attention.

Clairsentience means “Clear Feeling”. People who are Clairsentient feel things deeply – they are the empaths and the highly sensitive people. They sense energetic vibrations more profoundly and have learned to trust the guidance of their bodies and heart. Even if you’re not a highly sensitive person, you can still learn to tune into energetic vibrations for protection and to aid healing.

The last of the “Claires” is Claircognizance or “Clear Knowing”. This is when you just have a knowing about things. For people who have cultivated this sixth sense, it often feels like knowledge is being downloaded into their minds and they have learned to trust the information.

As I said, we all possess a sixth sense. It’s whether or not you choose to develop it or not. It’s not something to be frightened of or see it as “woo woo”.  It’s there to act as your inner guidance system helping to navigate your path, enriching your experiences, and opening up the gateway for remembering your joy.  It’s the pleasure and beauty of life. Savour it all my friend!
