“Accepting means you allow yourself to feel whatever it is you are feeling at that moment. It is part of the isness of the Now. You can’t argue with what is. Well, you can, but if you do, you suffer.” ~Eckhart Tolle

Yup, staying in for long periods of time sucks.  Not being able to go out for lunch or dinner sucks.  Not having a job really sucks. I get it. I feel it too.

The way I see it, you can walk through one of two doors…

DOOR #1:

You can grumble and complain about your circumstances to all who will listen. You can wallow in it.  Obsess about the news.  Worry about the future.  Wish it was the way it used to be.  Imagine the worst. Drink too much.  Overeat.  Try to numb the suffering.

Outcome:  Pushing against or trying to “control” things that are outside of your control because of worry and feelings of victimhood just leads to more suffering. And suffering is contagious.

One red door. One blue door

OR YOU CAN CHOOSE DOOR NUMBER 2

DOOR #2:

You can accept where you are right now, without judgement or blame.  You can then focus on things you can control, like positive self-care. Good nutrition, immune support, fresh air, meditation, and activities that soothe your spirit and feed your mind will help to keep you balanced and resilient.

Outcome:  Looking after your own emotional, physical and spiritual health during uncertain times like these will not only reduce your own stress level and enable you to thrive during times of crisis, but you will be helping to soothe the anxiety of all those around you.  You see, self-care is an expression of self-love.  And love is contagious.

I know you’ll make the right choice.  Your community is counting on it!
