“Like birds flying in a V, when we feel the presence of others moving alongside of us, there is little we cannot accomplish.” ~ Madisyn Taylor

In this last post for the first month of the new year, I wanted to end on a positive note. We’ve all had enough sadness and anxiety over the past two years.

So, this week’s post is dedicated to all the power of connection. For as our opening quote reminds us, together we are greater than the sum of our parts.

Take for example the way ordinary people have come together to help their neighbours during times of disaster.

I think back to the unprecedented flooding in BC late last year and the images of people helping guide water-soaked animals to higher ground.

Or people bringing food and clothing to people who had lost everything as tornadoes decimated their homes in the U.S. last month.

And you don’t have to look very far to see the many acts of kindness and kinship extended in your own community – people picking up groceries for isolated seniors, snow angels making sure sidewalks are cleared, and people donating food and funds to charities to ensure those who are struggling have what they need to get by.

That’s what we do as a human family. We look out for one another. For at a collective conscious level, we understand that when one person hurts, we all hurt. And when one thrives, we can all thrive. That’s the power of connection.

Those of you who are regular readers of my posts know how much I love quotes. I have files and files of ones I’ve discovered that find their way into my weekly messages. I find them online, in books, and even when I’m watching television. So here are a few that I thought you might enjoy.

Believe it or not, this first one I heard on an old episode of Perry Mason. Just as meaningful today as it was back in the early 1960’s:

If this crazy world isn’t to become unglued, we’ve all to face our need for one another.

And this is a great one from Victor Hugo:

Love is the reduction of the Universe to a single being.

Another profound one is from Verse 54 of the Tao Te Ching:

Each part is in the whole and the whole is in each part.

And finally, this is a powerful insight from Molly Vass as I read in Mark Nepo’s Book of Awakening:

If you place two living heart cells from different people in a Petrie dish,
they will in time find and maintain a third and common beat.

So, from the mystics to the scientists and everyone in-between, there is a common message. We are all connected. It was designed that way. And the livelihood of our entire planet depends upon our acceptance of and willingness to positively contribute to the whole. And that my friend is joyful living.

Love from your Joy Mama,

P.S. Why not practice the importance of connection right now by purchasing a copy of my book to give to someone you care about. You’ll be helping to spread the high vibration of joyful energy throughout the world.
