“No bird can fly without opening its wings, and no one can love without exposing their hearts.” ~ Mark Nepo

With just two more days until Valentine’s Day, this week’s blog is about how living with an open heart can soften the resistance that may be blocking your joy.

Being open-hearted means being flexible and not rigid.  And it means allowing yourself to be vulnerable. To me, it’s the combination of both of these elements that opens you up to the truth of yourself.

As Neale Donald Walsch said, “When the heart is cracked open, we access the most profound human secret of life and that is the secret of your true identity.”

To crack open your heart means to let go, to allow yourself to be seen, not just by others, but by yourself as well. It’s where the real power lies.

One of my favourite books is The Power of the Heart by Baptist de Pape.  It was also made into a documentary and if you can find it online, it’s really worth watching.

The book makes very clear, based on scientific evidence, that our heart has an intelligence that rivals the mind.  You may have already been aware of this fact, but if not, I encourage you to do some research at this site – Heart Math.

Here are a few more quotes I love from The Power of the Heart book, about love and relationships that I thought you might enJOY:

“Love doesn’t need reason.  It speaks from the irrational wisdom of the heart.”

~ Deepak Chopra

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to see and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”

~ Rumi

“You start to become a friend to yourself.  You become your own loving support.  And that’s one powerful way that you can start building a relationship on: with yourself, of trust and of love.”

~ Marci Shimoff

And on that final note, I’m dedicating today’s blog to my late brother Drew who passed in 2014 and whose birthday would have been today.  Drew was a caring and compassionate man, living open-heartedly until the very end.  Just not always to himself. I miss you Drew.  R.I.P.

Love from your Joy Mama,
